Payment orchestration is absorbing more of the merchant stack
Latin America & Caribbean — Colombia, with commercial integrations across Europe, Southeast Asia, and Oceania

The signal
A Colombia-founded orchestration provider is combining funding, merchant adoption, and full-stack payment-provider integrations, supporting a broader shift from adding payment methods toward controlling routing, resilience, reconciliation, and financial services through one merchant layer.
The clue
Colombia-founded Yuno raised $45 million to expand its payment infrastructure and subsequently integrated Revolut Pay, acquiring and gateway services through one merchant connection. The first merchants are reportedly activating the new payment stack without writing separate integration code.
Regional payment analysis describes a similar progression: from single-acquirer connections to multi-acquiring, dynamic routing and broader commerce infrastructure.
Why it matters
The strategic layer in payments may be moving from transaction processing toward deciding how multiple providers work together.
For merchants, orchestration can potentially consolidate:
- Checkout and payment-method activation - Provider routing and failover - Fraud and authentication services - Reconciliation and reporting - Payouts, financing and other financial services
Alternatives include direct acquirer integrations, vertically integrated suites from companies such as Stripe or Adyen, bank-owned infrastructure and country-specific processors.
Evidence and interpretation
- Observed facts: Yuno combined new financing with a commercial integration covering checkout, acquiring and gateway functions. A merchant has already activated the integration. - Interpretation: Orchestration providers are trying to become merchant operating layers rather than simple payment connectors. - Speculation: Processing itself could become increasingly interchangeable while routing intelligence, resilience and operational control capture more value.
What to watch next
Independent merchant retention, measured authorization and failover results, multi-provider adoption outside Yuno, and profitable expansion into reconciliation or financing would strengthen the thesis; it weakens if large merchants prefer direct acquirer integrations or if Stripe, Adyen, banks, and local processors absorb orchestration into their own suites.
